Flavours of the Month: January Edition!

The month of January saw me purchase an awful lot. From time to time I splurge outrageously and I have to confess, that last month sure was splurgelicious! Sometimes I forget that I'm living on student loans and grants! Oh to earn my own money...
Anyway, financial devastation aside, January also brought me some absolutely amazing products, things that I never want to be without ever again! Before I start rambling on as usual, I'll get started. I bought most of these things at the end of January, and theres an ever so sneaky February purchase that has made it's way in, because I don't want to wait any longer to tell you about it!

£3.95 from Lush
I have to admit, I'm a lush newbie... When I walked into the shop in Dundee a few weeks back, I think I looked a bit lost. Embarrassment aside, I managed to find all of the things that I was looking for without too much trouble! I really wanted a new toner. As you've probably read, I have a new addition to my skin routine, my Magnitone Pulsar and since I now have cleansing down, I thought I needed to get on top of my toner game. I wanted something minimal yet effective. By minimal, I mean, I didn't want to be piling on heaps of unnecessary chemicals that my face could really do without, nor did I want to be using a toner that made my face sting like I was using paint stripper on it! So, at a glance, this Lush toner fits the bill perfectly. In it you will only find Tea Tree Water, Grapefruit Water, Juniperberry Water, Limonene, Perfume, Methylparaben. I admit, "Perfume" is a bit vague, probably something of the nice-smelling monoterpene family (yes, ok, I'm a chemist...), but the list of ingredients is nice and short, so there's not too much in there to mess with the delicate ecosystem which is my face. Great! It comes in a spray bottle and I have to say, I look forward to spritzing this stuff over my face morning and evening! It's so refreshing and feels like it's doing your face some good! It has a nice cooling effect whilst it is drying. You can wipe off the excess with a cotton pad, but I prefer to just leave it to dry. After all, I don't need to use it to remove excess makeup, I just want it to do its thing with my pores. I have been absolutely loving this toner and I can't recommend it to you enough. It is meant to have a natural antiseptic effect, great for keeping breakouts at bay. I have the most breakout prone skin ever, and it hasn't irritated it at all. I use it at night after I have cleansed my face, and also in the morning, right before I put on my makeup. I will admit, the smell of it isn't to my taste, but having said that, it isn't unpleasant and I would rather it not smell "nice" because that usually means having chemicals which irritate my skin! In a nutshell, totally worth the money, will last ages and I will 100% be repurchasing once it is all gone!

£5.50 (+ £2.50 for the tin) from Lush
I'm a sucker for hair products and I had heard really good things about the Lush shampoo bars so, I thought I'd get one to see if they live up to the hype. I have recently dyed / bleached the life out of my hair so I wanted to get something which would maybe help it to feel less straw-like, or at least get a bit of shine back. Well, what can I say. My hair was a state. Like, scarecrow style. As soon as I used this, I felt my hair go some way back to being like actual human hair again! It was like magic! To use it you wet your hair, then you rub the bar down your hair. I didn't expect it to, but the residue really foams up and it makes your hair feel super clean once you've washed it out! I was so surprised at how good this and how much healthier it made my hair feel instantly, especially as it only mentions adding shine. The price may seem a little steep, especially with the tin (which in my opinion is a must as I have no idea where else I would put it to keep it safe!) but again, I think it will last for quite some time and the results are worth every penny in my opinion! If you feel like spending some money on a hair product and you are near Lush, definitely think about trying this out!

£12.59 with free shipping from Amazon
This is my product of the month without a doubt. There are no words to describe how in love I am with this hair oil. I don't care who you are, or what your hair type is, you need this! I can't remember where I heard about Mythic Oil, but I was about to purchase a far more expensive hair oil when I remembered the name of this one, saw that it was cheaper, and thought I would give it a go. Now, as I've already said, my hair has been through the mill recently, but this stuff is an absolute godsend! Not only does it makes my hair so soft and shiny but it makes it smell amazing! When ever I'm wearing this I'm literally trying to waft my hair at people, trying to get them to smell it! It's so good! I've used hair oils on and off in the past, but this one is here to stay! It doesn't make my hair look greasy and did I mention how soft it makes my hair, even though I've absolutely destroyed it?! I use it on my hair before I dry it, and also on my dry hair when it needs a bit of a pick-me-up. It is amazing and for the price, considering all of the far more expensive hair oils out there, this is almost a bargain! I never want to be without it, ever! I'm almost surprised I've not started putting it in my handbag! I bought mine from HQ hair for just over £16, but I've found it on Amazon for £12.59 with free shipping for you lovelies, so check it out here! It is definitely worth a look!

£8.99 from Boots
I picked up this little gem what feels like ages ago, and barely a day has gone by when I haven't used it. Originally I bought it because I wanted a mascara to use on some days when I didn't want to go all out and use my much more expensive Lancome Hypnose Drama. However, most days I just automatically reach for this one, which I definitely didn't expect, given how much I love my Lancome one that I got for Christmas! The L'Oreal Miss Manga is super volumising and lengthening and I don't find that it clumps too much either. It has a fairly dramatic effect but is still wearable, especially if, like me, you like to go all out with your lashes! The amount that I've used it speaks for itself, and aside from my Lancome, I've never felt so strongly positive towards a mascara ever before! It's a must-try!

£9 from Love Makeup
Ok so this is my sneaky "bought this in February but I don't care!" product! Since it arrived in the post I've been using it every single day and I'm really loving it! The thing I love most about it is it's staying power, along with its shiny finish. Oh, and it is super black! I have to wear eyeliner everyday, it's a bit of a compulsion. I feel like I look odd without it and feel naked going out without wearing it, so really, it's a must-have for me! I wanted a new liquid eyeliner but wasn't really sure what one to get. I was desperate for a Lime Crime lipstick and was ordering one when I saw these babies and thought, hey, why not give it a go. I have it in the colour "Quill" which is shiny black, but they do lots of other colours too! When it first arrived, I was massively disappointed with the brush which had some majorly sticky out flayed bristles going on. However, this was nothing that a quick trim with a pair of scissors couldn't fix. I really like the brush itself, and I find that I am able to apply it with an ok amount of precision for my skill level! I love the formula and it goes on so well. I definitely love this eyeliner and haven't been using any other since this arrived, so I'd say this is a definite favourite!

There we have it, my January favourites! Please let me know what you think! Have you tried any of these products? And what have been your favourites recently?

As always, don't forget to follow me on GFC and also on Bloglovin! Both of these things can be found just over to the right! *points and does puppy dog eyes*

Hope you are all well my lovelies!
