Lip Favourites - Drugstore Edition

Following my "Lip Favourites - High End Edition" post, which you can read right here, it is now time for me to share with you my "drugstore" edition!
When I am looking for a lip colour, my one requirement is that it needs to be moisturising, or at least, non drying. My lips have a habit of becoming dry no matter how much lip balm I use, and lipstick on dry lips tends to look dreadful! Here I have chosen my favourite lip colours, bought on a budget, that meet my strict criteria!

First I have for you Barry M's Touch of Magic lip paint. Now, don't get scared by the insane green colour! It changes to a pinky colour when you put it on. Barry M claim: "Waterproof formula with aloe vera, lasts up to 8 hours. Alkali level of your lips determines how pink the colour will go." I can confirm that it is indeed long lasting, to the extent that when you try to take it off, your lips are still stained. For me, it makes my lips look more red, rather than pink, but it's a nice colour and it just adds that little something. It's not intense or in your face, which makes it perfect for everyday wear. Also, if you re-apply it in public, you get some superbly strange looks from people who think you are putting on green lipstick!

My next favourite is a Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in the colour Creme Brulee. If you've read any of my previous posts, you may know that I love a good nude lip colour! I got this after seeing the lovely Ieva (Chanelette) talk about it in one of her videos. It really is moisturising and is a lovely nude with a golden undertone. This is another one that you need to use sparingly though; too much and you get the concealer lip look!

OK, here's for my absolute favourite budget nude lipstick! It's Rimmel's Lasting Finish by Kate in the colour Rossetto. It's absolutely gorgeous, isn't drying and even smells good! It doesn't by any means rival my Nars lip colour, but for less than half the price, you definitely can't complain! The colour is similar to my favourite Clinique Chubby Stick, Whole Lotta Honey, but has a thicker formula.

Finally, we have my most recent purchase, the MUA Power Pout in Runway. It has the look of a Chubby Stick, without the price tag! The MUA site says "MUA Power Pout is a lip treatment with colour intensity that relieves dry, cracked lips providing immediate moisturisation. The handy pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for easy use." The claims are spot on! The colour is actually more intense than they give it credit for, and it smells minty too. I definitely recommend trying one of these out as they're only £3!

If you've used any of these, I'd love to hear your thoughts too! Leave a comment even if you haven't, I love to read them and will always reply!

  1. I tried the magic barry m lipstick on my hand in boots, the colour was not something i would wear. I then spent the rest of the day scrubing it off. x

    1. It is still on my hand from swatching earlier! I think I like the novelty factor more than anything, though it goes quite a nice colour on me. My lips are already fairly red so it just enhances them a bit. Not good if you don't want to commit to wearing it all day though! xxx
