Baker Days Letterbox Cake

Recently I was contacted by the lovely people at Baker Days; a company which specialise in personalised cakes by post! They asked me if I would like to review one of their letterbox cakes, a 5'' cake designed to be posted right through your letterbox! Of course, I said I would love to!

A few days later, I found a little white box on my doormat, and inside was a lovely round tin containing my little edible delight. Also in the box was a card, two candles, three balloons, and a party blower!

The cake itself was a cute miniature birthday-style cake, covered with icing. I sent my blog banner to be put on the cake, and they also included a lovely background design which was a lovely touch. I didn't specify which cake flavour I wanted but I got a lovely surprise when I cut into it and discovered that it was chocolate! Other flavours that they do are vanilla sponge and fruit sponge and they also do gluten free and dairy free too. You can choose from lots of designs and you can personalise them and even add photos to some of them.

Personalised Cake

The chocolate sponge itself was very moist and really yummy! I'm not sure how I controlled myself enough not to eat it all at once! The icing was tasty too, and was quite thick. All together it was very delicious!

Personalised Cake

Letterbox cakes start at £14.99 and can be personalised which makes them great as a gift for someone's birthday and they have a great range of birthday cakes to personalise. They also cater for other occasions too! And because they can be posted through the letterbox, it really can be a surprise as no one needs to be in to collect it when the postman comes. I know I would be super happy to receive one as a present!

Baker Days also make larger cakes, and also cupcakes so they really do have something for everyone.

I'd love to know if you have tried one of these cakes and also what you think of the whole idea!

Now, where's my next slice of cake?

How To: Coral Lips

Hello my lovelies I hope you're all having a lovely week so far. Last night I Instagramed a picture of my current favourite lipstick and I wanted to do a post about it!

Coral lips aren't necessarily the easiest to pull off, and I'm not saying I do it perfectly, but I thought I'd show you how I like to do it anyway!

I like to keep my eyes fairly neutral so I used some pink-y shades from my MUA Undressed palette which I've actually been using a lot recently.

I applied some black pencil liner to the outer half of my eyelid and smudged it with a bit of black eyeshadow.

I then used Benefit They're Real mascara.

I finished it all off with the amazing lipstick from Maxfactor in the shade Bewitching Coral. It is definitely my favourite at the moment and and has one of the nicest formulas I've ever used. It is such a lovely colour too, though might not be for everyone as it is quite bright.

Maxfactor do some other really gorgeous shades in the same range, and you can pick them up from Boots (link) for only £7.99, which is amazing for such a high quality lipstick!

I'd love to hear what you think of this colour and if you've got a favourite lipstick too!

Barry M Silk Nail Polish

Good afternoon my lovelies! It's been so rainy and sad here in the last couple of days, and there's not been much going on. But it has given me a chance to settle back in at home which has been lovely.

Today I got a chance to do my nails and I decided to use a Barry M polish that I bought from Boots not long ago. I love Barry M polishes and I've been really impressed by the new lines they've been coming out with recently. This polish is from the silk line, and is in the colour Heather. It's a beautiful dusty lilac colour and it has a really unique finish to it. The silk polishes don't dry shiny, they're almost matte, but not quite. It also has a tiny subtle shimmer to it too.

I'm utterly in love with this colour, and I think it will be one of my go-to shades for the summer!

Also whilst I've been home, my brother has also filled me in on the latest craze of making bracelets out of rubber bands, so I'm now well and truly down with the kids and I'll soon be wearing them all up my arm! Has anyone else encountered this new playground trend?!

Mr. Nutcase Personalised Phone Case* Review

Hello lovelies, sorry once again for my absence, things have been a bit busy what with it being the end of the university year.

Today I have a little review for you, something a bit different to usual! I was recently given the opportunity to make a personalised phone case with Mr. Nutcase and I thought it sounded like a fun idea!

The idea is that you can upload your own pictures to be printed onto a phone case, and you can create something really personal for yourself or as a gift. The first step is to head to their website and chose the make and model of your phone, then the type of case you'd like; I went for the Executive Flip Leather Style case. Then you get to chose the layout of the photos, you can chose to have lots of photos or even just the one, it's up to you.

Then comes the hardest part, choosing which photos to put on it! I chose some photos of my family and one of myself and my boyfriend, so that I get to carry around some really special photos.

Once you've chosen the photos and put them where you want them, that's it! I made mine online on Monday afternoon and it arrived today (Thursday), so it's super quick!

I'm really happy with the quality of the case itself and how the photos have come out on the case. The photos are only printed on the back but I quite like that. The case is a little stiff at the moment but I'm sure it will loosen up with use.

The online interface was easy to use, and the case arrived very quickly. This particular case would cost £19.95 which isn't too bad considering the quality of the service, and I'd definitely consider making one as a gift.

I'd like to thank Mr. Nutcase for giving me the opportunity to review their product and I'd love to hear your opinions on my snazzy new case!

My Skincare Survival Kit

best skin care products

Hello my lovelies! I've been wanting to make this post for ages and I've finally gotten my act together for long enough to make it! I'm a bit of a lotions and potions junkie, and I will literally buy anything that promises to make my skin look better, but I'm also a serial skin neglecter. So I thought I'd share with you my skincare favourites that I use, and how I try to keep my skin in check.

It's all about the Routine

That's right, annoyingly, unless you manage to get yourself into a good skincare routine, you'll be stuck with mediocre skin forever unless you happen to be blessed with unearthly angel skin. As I said, I often neglect my skin, so I know this for a fact. When I'm tired the last thing I think I want to do is spend ages rubbing things on my face, so that's why my favourites consist of things that take very little time to use. In reality though, if you make these things part of your bedtime routine, taking care of your face can actually help you relax and feel ready for sleeping. Trust me!

Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise...

Has anyone else's mother hammered that into them since around the age of 8 or was it just mine? My mother was and still is an advocate for cleansing, toning and moisturising. I've always associated that with trying to remove your makeup solely with slimy cleansing lotion on one very sorry looking cottonwool pad. Trying to get rid of your mascara and black eyeliner with that stuff? Utter nightmare! For years this made me avoid this routine like the plague, but recently I've found my own way to do it, and not a slimy cleanser in sight!

1. Makeup Wipes

nivea face wipes

I am a complete makeup wipe devotee. I couldn't live without them and I don't understand how anyone else can! I remove most of my makeup with a wipe, and they are especially good for getting rid of mascara without filling your eyes with product (ouch!). They'll also take off most of your foundation and leave your face semi clean. When I'm being lazy I stop here, though that is not something I advise! I'll use any old makeup wipes, it doesn't matter, so long as they do the job. At the moment I'm using these Nivea ones and they're pretty good and not badly priced. (£2.99 Boots

2. Micellar Water

micellar water review

I never knew what to make of micellar water, but I bought the Garnier one recently and have absolutely fallen in love with it. It's so great for removing the excess makeup that facewipes leave behind. It leaves your face feeling really fresh too. The bottle is utterly huge so you really get your money's worth with this one. If you haven't tried it already, you seriously should! It is only £2.99 at the moment from Boots (an absolute bargain!) so next time you're having a cheeky online Boots shop, stick some in your basket!

3. Toner

lush tea tree water

I've used plenty of toners over the years, but this one is an absolute favourite of mine! You spray it on your face and you can either just leave it to dry or wipe it with some cottonwool. Spraying it on your face is so quick! Hurray! A totally non time consuming step! And it makes your skin feel lovely and cool and refreshed. I love Lush and this toner is a real gem! It comes in two sizes, 250 g (£7.50) and 100 g (£3.95), I have the smaller one, and it has lasted me ages so far!

4. Moisturiser

best moisturiser

A good moisturiser is a must. At the moment I am using this one from Lush. It's a bit pricey at £11.95 for 45 g, but it's fantastic, and suitable for sensitive skin too. I bought it as a bit of a treat to myself as I've been a bit stressed out recently, and that's taken it's toll on my skin! This stuff is super, and lovely to apply just before bed! Of course, any moisturiser will do, just make sure it is good for your skin type, and don't skip this step!

And just incase...

best spot treatment

My final advice would be to have the necessary skincare items on hand if you are prone to breakouts like I am. Usually these come when I'm stressed or neglecting my poor skin, and it needs nursing back to health. I have these two from the Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Range. The 3 in 1 cleansing lotion can be used in place of the micellar water when needed. It definitely feels more harsh on the skin but does do the trick in helping to get rid of pesky spots fast. You can pick it up for £3.99 from Boots. It's little companion is the Ultra-light Spot Treatment Moisturiser. I use this on and around spots, then use another moisturiser once that one has sunk in. The moisturiser is £4.99 from Boots

Well, there you have it, my skincare routine. It really doesn't take very long at all, and is effective if you stick to it! I imagine there are lots of different products that you could substitute in in place of the ones that I use that will work just as well.

I hope you found something of use, and if you have any skincare tips, please share them in the comments! I'd love to hear your thought!
